However, the participation of on-duty contractual employees from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), and other government agencies in the power displays of certain political leaders has raised eyebrows.

This incident was highlighted by Nagpur Today.

On Friday, at the Constitution Square in Nagpur, employees from the NMC and NIT were reportedly ordered to participate in a political rally involving prominent leaders just the day before. These employees attended the rally after marking their attendance at their respective offices. During this time, they were instructed to wear white T-shirts with the message “DF Army” printed on them.

The group included computer operators, attendants, conductors, drivers, maintenance staff from the city bus service, and various other contractual workers. It is speculated that the companies employing these workers might be owned or influenced by a particular political party or leader, who directed their employees to attend the political gathering.

Some workers were reportedly unaware that they were participating in this rally. During interactions with Nagpur Today, some employees declined to comment, while others mentioned they had received orders from higher-ups.

One anonymous employee stated, “After marking our attendance at the office, we received a message at 9:30 am to head to Constitution Square. We thought we were being called for some conference or training session. However, upon arrival, we discovered it was a political rally.” Reliable sources also indicated that some city buses were utilized for the rally.

When the Nagpur Today team visited the NMC and NIT offices to inquire about this matter, it was found that the computer operators and other contractual staff were absent from their workplaces because they were participating in the BJP rally that day.
