Nagpur: In another incident, where the participants of a Morcha got violent and the police had to resort to mild lathi charge.
According to sources, the members of Matang Community, who were demanding inclusion of their community for reservation benefits, had taken out a Morcha on December 18, 2015 to Vidhan Sabha. However, when two of the members tried to break the police barricades, the police sensed trouble and cane-charged the two men. A melee ensued and those who went to prevent the men from being thrashed too got lathi-charged by the policemen. The incident is said to have occurred near Shrimohini Complex where most of the Morchas are stopped. Some of the agitators who had entered Shrimohini Complex were pulled out by the cops and rained with baton-charge.
Sources claimed that 4 women, two children and some men who received injuries because of the lathi thrashing have been taken to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
