Police foil dacoity plan, nab eight members of inter-state gang in Kalamna, seize lethal arms

Kalamna police on Friday foiled an audaciously planned dacoity by arresting eight members of an inter-state gang in the nick of time. All the eight accused are natives of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Cops have seized weapons and vehicles collectively worth Rs 1.13 lakh from the possession of arrested criminals.

According to police, the gang members have been identified as Amit Omsingh Kumar (25) and Ravi Rampal Kumar (32), both natives of Gurgaon, Haryana, Mohit Sonvir Singh Bidla (19), a native of Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Prabhu Singh (19), Sonu Mahendra Parcha (19), both natives of Delhi, Chhotu Songir Singh Bidla (22), a native of Uttar Pradesh and a resident of Mini Mata Nagar, Panch Jhopda, Kalamna in Nagpur, Sonu Sonvir Bidla (24), a native of Uttar Pradesh and a resident of Mini Mata Nagar, Kalamna, and Nitu Omsingh Bidla (19), a native of Uttar Pradesh and a resident of Jamnagar, Bharatwada in Nagpur.

When the police were on a patrol duty after a certain tip off, they spotted the accused. The attire and activities of the gang members aroused suspicion. Sensing something amiss, the Kalamna police started moving toward the gang. As soon as the gang saw police approaching them they tried to escape the scene. Their escape attempt put the cops on alert. However, all the eight members of the gang were apprehended before they could flee the spot. A search led to seizure of  sharp-edged weapons including hattimar knife, iron rods, iron bars, nylon ropes, two two-wheeler vehicles (MH 49 Q 3667) and (MH 31 TC 5117) collectively worth Rs 1.13 lakh from the possession of accused.

All the gang members have been booked under relevant sections of IPC and placed under arrest. Further probe is underway.
