Poet Muntashir warms up hearts of audience at Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav

Nagpur: Manoj Muntashir, renowned lyricist, poet and screenwriter’s performance was like the warm blanket that Nagpurians are so delightfully wrapped in. Muntashir enchanted the audience with his ingenious poems and oratory skills on Day 7 of Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav being organised at Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education ground here.

Through his performance Maa, Matti, Mohabbat, he evoked a feeling of nationalism in the hearts of Nagpurians. This musical poetic night revolved around three elements: Mother, Motherland and Love. Muntashir, in his poetic ways, paid tribute to Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and people like him who fought to protect their motherland. He took the youth through the streets of Vrindavan and Sri Lanka in search of Radha-Krishna and Sita-Ram respectively and showcased what true love was.

The performance was an enchanting repertoire of songs and poems. Accompanying him were Rupali Jagga and Kumar Sahil who very beautifully performed songs like ‘Tumhe Dillagi Bhool Jani Padegi’ sung originally by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, ‘Kaise Hua, Kaise Hua’ sung by Vishal Mishra, ‘Baghon Ke Har Phool Ko’ sung by Amitabh Bachchan and Richa Sharma. From Shimming to Malhari’ and gently shedding tears to Muntashir’s poems, the event was a roller-coaster ride of emotions.

The programme began with a music performance by Shyam Deshpande. Following the patriotic song performance, Ashwin Giridhari Nimje presented the Hindi poem Krishna Neeti. It also featured a beautiful Chhattisgarhi dance performance inspired by the words of Saint Guru Ghasidas. Around 30 artists from Khairagarh, under the guidance of Gahary Ram Joshi, put up a wonderful performance and aptly conveyed the message of unity. Vivek Aloni compered the programme.

Celebrating local talent, local artists were felicitated for their efforts in keeping the art forms alive in the city. Vilas Manekar, Secretary, Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh; Ratnam Janardhanam, Director, Pratibha Nritya Mandir; Gajanan Khapre, Artisan, Weaver Community; Sharad Ingle, Sculptor; Pramod Suryavanshi, Sculptor and Painter; Mangesh Bavse, Vice President, Bal Kalakar Basoli Group; Shankar Lakshman Ninave, Artisan, Suti Saree Weaver were conferred with National Award; Ashutosh Adoni, Secretary,Vidarbha Region,Sanskar Bharati, were felicitated at the hands of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister, for their contribution to art and culture.

Gadkari; Lieutenant General Rajendra Nimbholkar (Retd); Abha Kolhe, Joint Charity Commissioner; Dr Girish Gandhi, social activist; Rahul Pande, State Information Commissioner; Nagpur Bench, Shripad Aparajit, Resident Editor, Maharashtra Times; Shrimant Mane, Editor, Lokmat; Sandeep Bharambe, Executive Editor, Dainik Sakal; Ramesh Kulkarni, Editor, Punyanagri; Bhaskar Londhe, Editor& CEO, Lokshahi; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Maharashtra Unit, and Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav Organising Committee, were prominently present at the event.
