Marketing Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association had organized a panel discussion on topic “Why SME’s fail to market their product/business”. Industry Stalwarts namely, Rohit Agrawal, Vishal Agrawal, Anita Rao and Shilpa Agrawal were panelists for the panel discussion.

Vishal Agrawal, owner, Plasto group said that it is extremely important to do market research before starting a business and even during the course of business. He shared his belief of going to market to understand the requirements of customers. He went on say that if one’s product is the best in the market then one does not need to give credit; rather one can take advance for their product.

Anita Rao highlighted the importance of proper branding and packaging for surviving and being successful in this cut throat competition. She cited examples of some companies who have products of extremely good quality but are not doing good business because of poor packaging. She also suggested that one should not over expand if one is unable to do justice to it.

Rohit Agrawal said that today digital marketing is extremely important but he suggested that one should not blindly follow what others are doing. He suggested that one should first do a need analysis for their particular business and their products and accordingly plan what marketing strategy is best for them.

Shilpa Agrawal suggested that digital marketing is immensely important keeping in view today’s generation who are highly tech-savvy and they believe in online shopping. She also suggested that one should a continuous research of competitor’s strengths/USP. Keeping oneself abreast with market research, SME’s can be highly successful.

At the outset, Shilpa Agarwal, Chairperson, VIA Marketing Forum gave the welcome address. The panelists were welcomed with floral compliments by Suhas Buddhe, Secretary, VIA. The panel discussion was moderated by Shikha Khare, Convener, Marketing Forum. Prominently present were Ashit Sinha, Suresh Rathi and Hetal Gaglani. This programme received an overwhelming response and was attended by young entrepreneurs, students, businessman, retailers, Industrialists in large numbers.
