Pintu Shirke Murder: Prime accused Vijay Mate arrested after two years of escape

Nagpur: The prime accused of much sensational Pintu Shirke murder case- Vijay Mate was arrested by Nagpur Police at the Nagpur Railway Station after two years of remaining absconding. Mate was arrested from the station when he was about to escape to Delhi.

The accused was absconding for past two years and the District Sessions Court had issued a sentence of life imprisonment against him. It is to be recalled that on a dual about property of several crore rupees, Mate and another accused Raju Bhadre had killed Shirke with a sharp tool on the sixth floor of Nagpur District Court in September 2002. Later, in 2013, court issued a life imprisonment against Mate and eight others, including Bhadre.

Mate was behind the bars since the episode. However, he was released on a parole around two years ago and had been absconding since then. Even after carrying intense search operations, the accused could not be traced down until the Sakkardara police received a tip about the same.

Acting on the tip, police has successfully arrested Vijay Mate and he will soon be presented at the court.
