Nagpur: In a theft reported from the Patrakar Club in Civil Lines, an unknown miscreant stole ₹54,000 in cash and a mobile phone belonging to Club President Pradeep Maitra. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday and came to light later that morning.
According to police sources, the thief gained entry into the premises around 3:22 am by jumping over the boundary wall near the Bal Bharti entrance. Once inside, he broke into the office and stole cash from a cupboard along with the president’s high-end mobile phone, estimated to be worth ₹1 lakh.
The incident was discovered when the club staff arrived for work on Monday morning. Club Manager Rajesh Sakharkar promptly lodged a complaint at the Sitabuldi Police Station.
A case of burglary has been registered. Police are examining CCTV footage from surrounding areas and suspect the theft was well-planned. An investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
