NAGPUR: Attacking ruling party leaders for the poor standard of road construction in Nagpur, former Member of Parliament and State vice-president of Congress party Nana Patole alleged that the tenders of road construction works were allotted to close aides of Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and State Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday, Nana Patole said that the works of road construction across the city were allotted to the near and dear ones of the three BJP leaders from Nagpur to earn huge commissions. Due to this, there was no monitoring and quality check of the construction work and the city got such poor standard roads that couldn’t stand even a single monsoon season, he said.

He added that huge damage was done to the environment while constructing the roads. Moreover, the work of drainage system was completely neglected and was not done along with the road construction.

This resulted in water-logging at many places in the city when non-stop rainfall was witnessed last week. Even the Vidhan Bhavan premises was in rain waters and Both the Houses of the Assembly had to be adjourned due to water-logging and power cut in the Vidhan Bhavan, Patole charged.
