Nagpur: In a keenly fought elections of Gondwana Club, Nagpur, Pankaj Chokhani was again elected as President while the post of Treasurer was bagged by Ashish Khemuka for the 2022-23 term in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday, November 13.

One of the oldest and popular clubs in Nagpur, the Gondwana Club, elected a new executive for the year 2022-23 in the Sunday’s annual general meeting.

The present executive was represented by outgoing President Pankaj Chokhani, Aashish Khemuka, Sneha Joshi-Parikh, Vaibhav Rai and Preeti Buty Shandilya. The other contesting panel consists of current executive member Parth Mujumdar, Jatin Kale, Shravan Mohta and Shashank Vishwarupe.

Others who got elected in the AGM include Vaibhav Rai, Jatin Kale, and Parth Mujumdar.

Both the women contestants Preeti Buty Shandilya and Sheha Joshi Parikh lost the elections as they failed to bag any post.

Chokhani’s panel bagged three posts while two posts went to Parth Mujumdar’s panel.

In last year’s elections, Jatin Kale and Shravan Mohta had contested as independent candidates. Both the groups have been busy campaigning for their candidates using social media to great effect. The ruling group’s manifesto has sought continuity to fulfil their ongoing projects. It has highlighted the work done in the last year including digital payment system, club App, increased revenue, strengthened investments and a new coffee shop.

The other panel has asked for a change and assured a squash court within eight months, all-round growth in all sectors, no conflict of interest and transparent working. As per the general mood, the biggest point of debate for the voters is the new coffee house which many feel has exceeded the required budget.

Interestingly, the results were finally declared in the wee hours after 12.30 am.
