Orange City set to cherish colourful Shobha Yatras to mark Ram Navami on April 4

Nagpur: The fascinating moments that beckon the Orange City are hours away. The city is set to witness the much awaited event of the year — Grand Shobha Yatras — to mark Ram Navami on Tuesday, April 4, with religious fervour.

With dozens and dozens of hands giving finishing touches and lakhs thronging the streets, the Shobha Yatras will be taken out from Poddareshwar Ram Mandir, Ramnagar Ram Mandir and other temples of the city. The oldest and the biggest Shobha Yatra organised by Poddareshwar Ram Mandir is by far the most attractive and witnessed.

The main attractions of the Shobha Yatras being taken out by Poddareshwar Ram Mandir and Paschim Nagpur Nagrik Sangh are colourful chariots, tableaus and floats depicting various events of Ramayan. The main chariot which is in the shape of a ‘Shakti Rath’ will have the idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman. The Poddareshwar Ram Mandir Shobha Yatra will pass through Kakde Chowk, Hansapuri, Naalsahab Square, Ganjakhet Square, Bhandara Road, Shahid Chowk, ChitarOli, Pandit Bachchraj Square, Kelibag Road, Mahal Chowk, Narsingh Talkies Chowk, Gandhi Gate Square, Tilak Putala, Subhash Road, Agyaram Devi Square, Geeta Mandir Square, Cotton Market, Malaviya Road, Janki Talkies, Dr Munje Chowk, Jhansi Rani Square, Sitabuldi Main Road, Manas Square, Netaji Subhash Road, Station Road, Santra Market and will conclude at Poddareshwar Ram Mandir. 108 women of Bajariya Mahila Samaj will be wearing identical saris and walking in front of the chariot, carrying kalash on their heads. A number of dance groups will be presenting different folk dances, on skates, with lazim, and tribal dance and garba. A total of 50 tableaus will be a part of this display.

The Paschim Nagpur Nagrik Sangh Shobha Yatra will start from Shriram Mandir, Ram Nagar and will pass through Bajiprabhu Square, Laxmibhavan Square, Coffee House Square, Zenda Chowk, Laxminarayan Mandir Square, Laxmibhhavan Square, Shankar Nagar Square, Bajaj Nagar Square, Laxmi Nagar Square, Abhyankar Nagar Square, VNIT Gate Square, LAD Square, Hill Road and will conclude at Shriram Mandir, Ramnagar.

Bellishop Shobha Yatra:
Similarly, a Shobha Yatra from 308-year old Shri Shiv Mandir at Bellishop Railway Colony will be taken out at 4 pm on Tuesday in North Nagpur. The Shobha Yatra is being organised on the joint auspices of Shri Shiv Mandir Trust and Shobha Yatra Utsav Committee. At the outset at 10 am, collective reading of ‘Sundarkand’ will be held followed by Ramjanma Utsav at 12 noon and distribution of Prasad at 1 pm.

Prominent personalities who will grace the event include MLA Dr Milind Mane, former MLA Dr Nitin Raut, renowned homoeopath Dr Vilas Dangre, Paediatrician Dr Uday Bodhankar, SECR official Satyanarayana, Corporator Sandeep Sahare, former Corporator and President of Gurunanak Engineering College Navnitsingh Tuli, Zero Mile Foundation’s Working President Dr Deepak Lalwani, noted businessman Jugalkishore Shahu, Virendra Jha, and Dr Pravin Dabli.
