Nagpur: The Day-1 of the Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature witnessed an aggressive mood of Opposition leaders who raised high-pitched slogans against BJP Government’s policies. The Opposition leaders staged agitation at the stairs of Vidhan Bhavan and gave vent to their voice even before the start of the House proceedings.

The leaders of Congress, NCP, RPI (Kawade) raised slogans and took the government head on over farmers’ loans, lost jobs, inflation, farmers’ suicides, betrayal of people, etc. The protest was led by Congress leader and Opposition Leader in Assembly Radhakrushna Vikhe Patil and Opposition Leader in Council Dhananjay Munde. Both the leaders said that the BJP Government has cheated the farmers in the name of loan waiver. “The government has failed to deposit the loan waiver amount in the accounts of farmers. This government has no sufficient money to purchase produce of the farmers. It has no tenacity to purchase farmers’ produce at minimum support price. Hence farmers are selling their produce to private traders at lower rates,” they thundered.

“Unemployment has assumed monstrous proportions. On one hand, the government is singing the tune of development and on the other hand, holding the people to ransom. Unless all the burning issues are not solved by the government, we will not allow proceedings of both the Houses,” warned the Opposition leaders.

Change in working:

The Government, for the first time, effected a major change in the proceedings of both the Houses. Till now, the Houses would commence the proceedings with tabling of condolence resolution. But this time move is to be taken up in the last. Working of various departments has been undertaken at the start of the proceedings.
