Nagpur: In a continued effort to shield young minds from the growing menace of narcotics, Nagpur’s Beltarodi Police on Monday reached out to schoolchildren and teachers as part of the citywide Operation Thunder anti-drug campaign.
The initiative, launched under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, aims to create a strong wall of awareness against drug abuse, especially among students who are most vulnerable to experimentation and peer pressure.
At Gondwana Public School, Shankarpur, officers and administrative staff from Beltarodi Police Station interacted with students, teachers and school personnel in an informative session. Using simple language and real-life examples, the police explained the various forms of drugs, how they trap youth, and the severe health and legal consequences associated with their use.
Officials stressed that community support is crucial in the fight against narcotics. They urged students and citizens to immediately alert the nearest police station if they notice drug consumption, sale or suspicious activities. To encourage reporting, officers assured that the identity of informants would remain strictly confidential.
As part of the outreach, the team used visual displays, including banners, hoardings and charts, to drive home the message of “Say No to Drugs” in a clear and compelling way.
The programme saw active participation from students, school staff and local citizens. Senior Police Inspector Mukunda Kawade, supported by DCP (Zone IV) Rashmita Rao, led the Beltarodi Police team in delivering the anti-drug message with conviction and clarity.
