Nagpur: Dhantoli Police on Wednesday arrested a youth in a firing case that took place on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Chavan and Inspector Madavi of Dhantoli Police Station were attached to the Police Control Room following charges of withholding information about the incident which took place three days ago (on June 26).

The accused has been identified as Yash Sharma (26), a resident of Manish Nagar. The case was registered on the complaint of Anand Thakur.

According to police, the accused Yash had a dispute with one Sahil over molestation during a birthday party held at a hotel in Ramdaspeth on November 1, 2021. Anand and Rangoonwala brothers were also with Sahil at that time. Yash was attacked during the incident. The police had also registered a case against both the groups. Since then, Anand and Yash became rivals.

On Sunday night, Yash was sitting in his career guidance office located in Vivekananda Nagar. Meanwhile, Anand and his accomplices arrived in a Duster SUV. They brandished sharp weapons before Yash. Yash sensed that his life was in danger. He fired two rounds at Anand and his accomplices from his office. As a result, the youths fled the spot.

Staff of Dhantoli Police Station reached the spot after receiving the information. Yash told the police that he had fired with an airgun. He also gave the airgun to the police. A non cognizable offence was registered by the police.

A new twist came in the episode on Wednesday evening. Anand, alongwith his father, met Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar. He told the police chief that Yash had fired shots at Anand from a pistol. However, the offence was not registered against him. The CP directed DCP Zone II Dr Sandip Pakhale to conduct an investigation. The police have registered a case against Yash and arrested him.
