Nagpur: Crime against women seems to be growing every-day. Almost every day one can find at least two or three cases where women have been molested or raped. There are three cases of molesting and one case of rape reported in the police crime briefs.
Rape:
From December 2012 to April 22, 2015, the accused identified as Ashish Ashok Lokhande aged 30 years and a resident of Plot No 44, Gajanand Nagar, Trimurti Nagar, enticed a 20 year-old victim with the lure of marriage and had established physical relationship with the victim. When the victim noticed that the accused is showing no signs or intensions of marrying her, she felt cheated and lodged a complaint with MIDC Police Station.
In the first case of molesting, on April 21, 2015, at around 3 pm, when the 24-year-old victim was standing in front of Maitreyi Girls Hostel, the accused identified as Nitin Mirchandani made a marriage proposal to the victim. When the victim refused, he started molesting the girl and hit her with blows. If that was not enough, he went on to make her fall down and stole her mobile phone costing Rs. 30,000 (Rupees Thirty Thousand).
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Police Sub Inspector Chaudhari of Ambazhari Police Station registered a case under sections 394, 354, 354(B) (D), 294 and 323 of Indian Penal Code against the accused.
In the second case, on April 19, 2015 at around 6:30 pm, the accused identified as Mayur Sharma aged 25 years asked the 27-year-old victim who was seated in the Start City Bus, standing in the city bus stop near Maharajbagh, saying, “ Too Mere Sath Bathcheet Kyon Nahi Karti, Mujhse Milne Kyon Nahi Aati?”, (why do you not speak with me and why you don’t come to meet me?”), saying this the accused caught hold of her hand and molested the victim.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Woman Police Sub Inspector Shende of Sitabuldi Police Station registered a case under section 354 of Indian Penal Code against the accused.
In the third case of molesting, on April 21, 2015, at around 8 pm, the accused duo identified as Manoj Chaudhari, Ashwini Kumar Chaudhari caught hold the hand of the 40-year-old victim a resident of Gittikhadan area and rained blows on her and molested her.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Police Sub Inspector Bedhodkar of Gittikhadan Police Station registered a case under sections 354(B), 323 and 34 of Indian Penal Code against the accused.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Police Sub Inspector Wankhede of MIDC Police Station registered a case under sections 417 and 376 of Indian Penal Code against the accused.
