PRESS NMC PHOTONagpur: Finding a big hole in Local Body Tax (LBT) rule, the Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) has urged the Municipal Commissioner to come clean on the issue and hammer out a solution.

A delegation of NVCC, led by its President Mayur Panchmatiya, met Shravan Hardikar, Municipal Commissioner and brought to his notice the duel rates of LBT applied in assessment of the tax. The NVCC handed over a memorandum along with corrigendum dated 6th July, 2013 issued by Urban Development Department through a notification dated 28.03.2013 and published in the Government gazette in the limits of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

The Municipal Commissioner assured the NVCC delegation that the interpretation of the rule will be studied by the Legal Faculty of the Department.

Hardikar appealed the traders, who have collected LBT on behalf of the department, to deposit the same in NMC Treasury. “There is a mutual trust & understanding with the NMC that was arrived at last meeting held at NMC. We the traders are liable to pay the LBT but we were expecting abolishment of LBT from April 1, 2015 instead of August 1, 2015, but the traders were disappointed,” said Panchmatiya. About the corrigendum, copy submitted by NVCC, the Commissioner said that he will give directives to the department lawfully. The NMC will intervene into the matter soon to maintain cordial relation between the traders.

Others who were present on the occasion include Manubhai Soni, Secretary, Raju Vyas, Treasurer, Sachin Puniyani, Jt. Secretary, Umesh Patel, Natwar Patel and Kirt Panchmatia.
