Nagpur: The two co-opted members of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Sunil Agrawal and Adv Nishant Gandhi were felicitated recently by Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC). President of NVCC Prakash Mehadia welcomed and felicitated Corporator Sunil Agrawal while Vice President Hemant Gandhi felicitated co-opted Corporator Adv Nishant Gandhi.

Replying to their felicitation, Agrawal and Adv Gandhi, both nominated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the municipal body, said that they would take up the traders-related issues in the general body meetings on regular basis. Agrawal said the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has been showing concerns for the traders right from the beginning. “The civic body is working hard to maintain cleanliness in all the commercial places in the city and also developing civic amenities for the convenience of the traders and citizens as well. Besides, we will also direct municipal administration to modernise some of the busy and congested market places,” he said.

Expressing concerns over the civic body’s recent decision of the NMC with regard to revision of rental charges of shops owned by the NMC, Agrawal said he would asked the civic authorities to make the charges reasonable. “The civic body has made stupendous hike in the rates which is not going down well with many traders. Considering this, we will discuss the matter with the concerned authorities,” he said.

Asv Nishant Gandhi saidboth the Corporators would be available for the traders 24×7. “We belong to trading community and hence we are aware of problems faced by them. We have decided to visit the chamber every week so that we can help the traders and eventually boost trading activities in the city,” he said. Gandhi appealed to the established players to create awareness among small traders on Goods and Services Tax (GST). “The GST is a biggest tax reform in the country which will take the country’s economy to a new high. However, we need to educate the traders so that they could feel comfortable and prosper,” he added.

The Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) felicitated the Corporators at the 9th executive committee meeting. Raju Vyas, Vice-President of NVCC was felicitated by Prakash Mehadia for being elected as General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Pushitkar Seva Parishad.
