NSUI activists gherao DTE office

The activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Saturday, August 2 gheraod the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) office demanding reduction in the criteria for admissions in engineering colleges.
DTE, from this year, has increased the eligibility criteria for admissions in Engineering stream. Earlier, for general category minimum percentage in 12th was 45 percent and for reserved category it was 40 percent. DTE from this year has made it 50 percent for General Category and 45 percent for reserved category.
According to NSUI office bearers, the AICTE’s rules and regulations facilitate 40 percentage criteria for reserved category and 45 percent for general category. Claiming partiality by the DTE, NSUI demanded reduction in eligibility criteria.
NSUI General Secretary, Nagpur, Abdul Malik and District Secretary Shahbaz Siddique along with the students met Deputy Director of DTE, Gulabrao Thakre and put forth their demands.
