Nagpur News : Next time if you miss the train for your journey on reserved ticket, do not expect any refund as railways have changed the rules. The refund facility, in accordance with the new rules, will be withdrawn from March 1 even if the passengers miss the trains.

The rules for refund of money for group travels have also been changed. Refund will also not be paid to those who have booked tickets as a part of a group and decide not to travel for any reason. In fact, the Railway has effected changes in the rules of refund on cancellation of tickets booked from Public Reservation System.

Nagpur Today tried calling Central Railway Public Relation Officer Patil to seek clarification about the rules, but he remained unavailable for the comments.

The Railway Board has issued a circular on 21.2.2014 by which the new rules will come into effect from March 1 across the country.

However, the refund would continue as it is in the situations like failure of AC functioning, stalling of travel midway, non confirmation of tickets, and cancellation of trains. The passengers who have booked AC tickets and travel in sleeper coaches will get refund of the difference.

Previously, passengers were refunded even after missing the trains and producing the tickets within two hours after the departure of trains. Passengers had rights to get 50 percent of refund amount.
