Sardar Atal Bahadur Singh, the childhood friend of Dr Nitin Raut, heaped accolades on his friend for overall development of North Nagpur. “During Dr Nitin Raut’s tenure as long-time MLA and Minister, the area developed in leaps and bounds. All credit must go to Dr Raut for prosperity of people of the constituency,” said the former Mayor Atal Bahadur Singh.
On Monday (October 6), Nagpur Today accompanied Dr Nitin Raut, who is again contesting Assembly election on Congress ticket, during his campaign trail. He started his rally by visiting former Mayor Atal Bahadur Singh. Talking to Nagpur Today, Atal Bahadur said that it was only because of Dr Nitin Raut that he got elected as Mayor in 1995-96.
Atal Bahadur Singh claimed that there are two good reasons why Dr Nitin Raut should get elected again. One, because he has performed unparalleled development works in North Nagpur and the second, he fulfills what he promises. He claimed that Dr Nitin Raut never doles out false assurances. If something can be done or is feasible, he will say “yes” to it and will strive to fulfill what he has promised.
Atal Bahadur also said that both he and Dr Raut come from poor families. Both used to live in Gurunanakpura. Both of us have played together, have got injured together while playing and have supported each other in every moment of life.
Apart from various other issues, basically Dr Nitin Raut is a gem of a human being, claimed Atal Bahadur Singh and added that Dr Raut is one person who is always accessible to everybody, every time without any reservations.
Sardar Atal Bahadur Singh claimed that North Nagpur was inhabited by people of all communities mainly Sindhis, Punjabis, Sikhs, and Maharashrians of all classes. This area was always considered poor and backward. A time was there when no one wanted to live in this area even though the land could be procured at a reasonable rate. However, the scenario changed rapidly once Dr Nitin Raut started representing the North Nagpur constituency. It was only because of the efforts of Dr Raut that the area saw some development. Soon hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, proper roads, transport facilities appeared. These facilities resulted in development of this area in leaps and bounds, asserted Atal Bahadur Singh with a broad smile.
Sardar Atal Bahadur Singh claimed that he and Dr Raut are inseparable and so he and all his friends and workers of Lokmanch will work with renewed energy to campaign for Dr Raut.
