Nagpur: Touted as an effective alternative to private or police security, bouncers have become new rage in Nagpur. You must have come across these heavily muscled hunks attired in black tees and jeans at the entrance of private parties, celebrity shows and sumilar such events where the probability of gate crashing and mob ire is high. But you would be shocked to learn that nine out often bouncer supplying companies operating in Nagpur are not registered and hence do not pay tax. Leave aside Nagpur, such companies are not registered any where in India.
A bouncer is a type of security guard, employed at venues such as bars, nightclubs, ranches or concerts to provide security, check legal age, to refuse entry for intoxication, aggressive behavior or non-compliance with statutory or establishment rules.
These bouncers are mostly from city gyms. Guys whose favourite pastime is body building and have no job often opt for this job of bouncers. These bouncers are hired by owners of various business establishments and entertainment coordinators or even event management companies. Many sophisticated bars hire these bouncers.
Tax Deducted at Source, Service Tax and other such mandatory payments are never paid to the government or any government bodies. These companies operate with a mobile to start and run a successful yet unsafe bouncer business. Nobody checks, nobody verifies, nobody takes guarantee of the safety of women during provision of security in any event or function that bouncers are to protect. Bouncers rather than being the sole protectors of people, property and belongings are the biggest threat. No bouncers can be trusted with anything precious. The threats from these bouncers include fights with the bouncers, brawl between two parties which leads to hot headed bouncers getting included or the bouncers bashing up any person.
The event management companies hire them to ensure controlling the fanatic crowd of youngsters who fall all over celebrities and stars. They prevent the stars from being manhandled.
These Bouncers get good training in crowd control and managing errant trouble makers. Some of the companies managing the supply of bouncersalso provide some very modern equipment like walkie-talkies, sten-guns, Taser etc. (A Taser or conducted electrical weapon (CEW) is an electroshock weapon sold by Taser International. It fires two small dart-like electrodes, which stay connected to the main unit by conductors, to deliver electric current to disrupt voluntary control of muscles causing “neuromuscular incapacitation”).
