IPL 9New Delhi/Nagpur:The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed Mumbai Cricket Association’s plea against the Bombay High Court order on shifting Indian Premier League matches out of Maharashtra. The apex court ordered that there will be no IPL matches in the state after May 1.

“It is better to move out the matches in wake of the drought,” the court observed.

After the Bombay High Court had ordered shifting IPL matches out of Maharashtra, the MCA had filed a joint Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court. The petition had argued for allowing IPL matches according to the original schedule in Maharashtra.

Mumbai is home to Mumbai Indians whereas debutant franchise Rising Pune Supergiants led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni are based at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
