Nagpur: The ambitious Nag River, Pili Nadi and Pora River cleaning campaign under Sansad Jal Va Paryavaran Yojana will be undertaken from Akshaya Tritiya i.e. May 9. The river cleaning campaign will be undertaken up to June 5.

Accordingly, the drive will commence on May 9 at 9 am from Ashok Square in South Nagpur, at 10.30 am from Nari Ghat in North Nagpur and at 12 noon from Narsala for cleaning of Nag Nadi, Pili Nadi and Pora River respectively in the presence of Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Pravin Datke, former Mayor and MLC Prof Anil Sole, Deputy Mayor Satish Holay, MLAs Sudhakar Deshmukh, Krishna Khopde, Sudhakar Kohale, Dr Milind Mane, Vikas Kumbhare, MLCs Nago Ganar, Prakash Gajbhiye, Chairman of Standing Committee Sudhir Raut, Leader of Opposition Vikas Thakre, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, District Collector Sachin Kurve and Corporators.

Earlier, on Sunday (May 8), Additional Municipal Commissioner R Z Siddiqui and Chief Engineer Ulhas Debadwar convened a high-level meeting and reviewed the pre-campaign arrangements.

The Guardian Minister and Mayor had directed the concerned officials to complete the cleaning of city’s rivers and nallahs before June 5.
