NMC to buy addl 32-metre hydraulic platform to fight high-rise fires

The Standing Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), in its meeting held on Monday (December 26), unanimously approved a slew of proposals but without proper discussion. Briefing media about the outcome of the meeting, Chairman of the Standing Committee Sudhir (Bandu) Raut highlighted the proposals approved by the panel. These include:

  • Rs 686.37 lakh approved for purchase of 32-metre tall hydraulic platform to fight incidents of high-rise fire.
  • The proposal to dispose of NMC’s 29 vehicles/machinery, 6 fogging machines and scrap/tyres approved. The material will be sold to another purchaser other than the firm awarded the earlier tender.
  • Rs 29,98,151 proposal for tarring of roads in Prabhag 51 put up by PMA Construction Company approved. Similarly, M/s Phonix Engineering has been awarded the work of tarring of roads in Prabhag 60 at the cost of Rs 45,38,481. M/s Bindra Construction Company given work of construction of cement road under Prabhag 3 at the cost of Rs 43,87,493.
  • Proposal to fill up 30 vacant posts of drivers/machine operators and 62 other posts in Fire Brigade Department on contractual basis approved. The NMC will incur an expenditure of Rs 244 lakh towards wages. The contracts will be renewed every year.
  • The proposal of M/s Amrut Constructions to provide basic amenities in Sevadal Nagar through Gharkul Scheme under SRA is given nod. The company is also given the same work in Bezonbagh-2.
  • Proposal to spend Rs 20,000 daily for demolition of dilapidated structures, illegal structures, various encroachments, and other such works approved.
  • M/s J P Enterprises awarded the construction of cement road from Sai Leela Apartment to Ring Road Kalamna and Gillor Gate Dipti Signal to Shrikrishna Industries at the cost of Rs 8,85,63,463.
  • Similarly, PMA Constructions has been awarded work of construction of cement road from Shivji Lawn, Besa Road to Radhanand Nagar in Prabhag 67 at the cost of Rs 57,36,266.
  • M/s Sadiq and Company has been awarded Rs 1,18,98,500 contract for carrying out works related to Kavi Suresh Bhat Memorial Hall.
  • The Additional Municipal Commissioner Ramnath Sonowane said that M/S Essel Infra Projects Pvt Ltd and Hitachi Josen India Pvt Ltd jointly have been given contract for “Waste to Energy” Project in Bhandewadi Dumping Yard. The work on the project will start in 2017 and is likely to be completed by June 2019. The tariff for the electricity generated in the project will be decided by MERC. The power producer will be supplied waste/garbage and will also be given Rs 225 per tonne. The civic body will provide land, 800 metric tonne waste and Rs 70 crore for the project. After the approval of Standing Committee, the subject will be tabled in General Body Meeting. Since the technical evaluation of “Providing Maintenance and Support for Operation of Nagpur Municipal Corporation e-Governance ERP System” the proposal was sent to Chief Engineer for technical evaluation, Sonowane said.
  • An expenditure of Rs 5.50 crore was approved for meeting hall of Standing Committee at sixth and seventh floor of Administrative Building and work of Town Hall.
