NMC school celebrates Bar Sheshrao Wankhede’s 101st birth anniversary, social gathering

Nagpur: Bar Sheshrao Wankhede Vidyaniketan, Ramdaspeth on Thursday celebrated the 101st birth anniversary of city’s first Mayor Bar Sheshrao Wankhede and school’s social gathering. The chief guest of the function was Mayor Pravin Datke while Education Committee Chairman Gopal Bohre, former Mayor Atal Bahadur Singh, and Wankhede family’s representative Pramod Wankhede were the special guests. The School Management Committee Chairperson Gajbe was also seated on dais.

At the outset, the guests were welcomed in a traditional manner by the students of the school. The dignitaries later lighted the traditional lamp and garlanded the photo of Bar Wankhede to mark beginning of the programme. The school Headmaster Dilip Wankhede made the introductory speech and highlighted various projects, results of Class X and other achievements. The students of Class 7, 8, and 9 presented tabla recital and Lezym dance. The students who bagged the first, second and third rank in the Board exam from the school were felicitated with Rs 2500, Rs 1500 and Rs 1000 prizes respectively by Kusumtai Wankhede Trust. Former Mayor Atal Bahadur Singh distributed Oxford Dictionary to 33 students of Class IX. Similarly, Education Officer Ashok Talatule inaugurated the Drawing and Science Exhibition displayed by the school students.

The Mayor Pravin Datke and other dignitaries addressed the students and provided guidance to them for achieving success in the future.
