According to ACB officials, the complainant had recently purchased a flat in the Rameshwari area and had applied for transfer of property tax in his name at the Hanuman Nagar Zone office. Instead of processing the application lawfully, the accused allegedly attempted to exploit the situation for personal gain.

During document verification, Dodke reportedly approached the complainant and demanded Rs 3,500 on behalf of himself and Mogre, assuring that the annual property tax would be reduced to Rs 1,800. After negotiations, the bribe amount was allegedly settled at Rs 3,000.

Refusing to bow to the illegal demand, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a formal complaint. Acting swiftly, the ACB laid a trap and caught Dodke red-handed while accepting Rs 500 as part of the bribe, allegedly at Mogre’s behest. Both accused were immediately detained.

A case has been registered at Hudkeshwar Police Station under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SP Dr Digambar Pradhan, Additional SP Madhuri Baviskar and Vijay Mahulkar, along with the ACB team.

The incident once again exposes how citizens seeking routine civic services are allegedly forced to confront corruption at the grassroots level.
