On last day of OTS, 3669 consumers paid RECORD Rs 2.27 crore.
Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation has recovered almost Rs 9.23 crore (approx.) from 17424 consumers in last 15 days of One Time Settlement Scheme. These consumers (defaulters) have now assured to pay regular bills in future to NMC-OCW.
It must be mentioned that taking into consideration the huge arrears and the troubles of the Water Bill arrear holders, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has brought up a citizen convenience scheme where arrear-holders can get rid of the arrears by paying 50% of the actual arrear amount. The scheme that started on June 15, 2016 was valid only up to 30th June 2016.
The scheme was applicable to consumers belonging to Residential and Slum categories and who were having arrear amount more than Rs.2000. Under this scheme, of the total arrears amount mentioned on the consumer bills, 50% amount will have to be paid (excluding Delay Payment Charges). The revised amount will have to be completely paid off during the scheme period.
Meanwhile On the 15 th day of scheme NMC has earned record Rs 2.27 crore taking the total to Rs 9.23 crore (approx.)

NMC had appealed citizens to avail the benefit of this ‘now or never’ scheme. Now the scheme is over there will be no hearing on the arrears.. Also, stern action will be taken against those who have not availed the benefit of the scheme.
