NMC, Green Vigil Foundation undertakes “Save Energy Drive” on ‘Pournima’

DSC_0854Nagpur: Come ‘Pournima’ (Full Moon Night), the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Green Vigil Foundation jointly go on “Save Energy Campaign.” January 23 was the day of the campaign for the month. The campaign is undertaken between 8 pm and 9 pm during which streetlights, electrical equipments and other gadgets are switched off by households, offices, business establishments and others that ultimately saves electricity a lot.

On January 23, the “Save Energy Drive” was undertaken at Siddheshwar Meeting Hall Square in Manewada Road areain the presence of MLC and former Mayor Prof Anil Sole, Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Singare, Zone Chairperson Sarika Nandurkar, Corporator Nayana Zadeand Kaustubh Chatterjee of Green Vigil Foundation. Under the campaign, around 40 streetlights from Siddheshwar Meeting Hall Square to Tukdoji Square, Tukdoji Square to Chandramani Nagar Squarem Subhedar Layout and several surrounding areas were switched off for one hour from 8 pm to 9 pm. An awareness drive was also undertaken in the areas. Till to date, electricity to the tune of 2715.95 KWH has been saved in NMC’s 10 zones across the city.

Others who participated in the “Save Power Campaign” include Executive Engineer (Electricity) Sanjay Jaiswal, Assistant Engineers Salim Iqbal, Bhujade, Junior Engineer Rudrakar, Green Vigil Foundation’s Daksha Borkar, Surbhi Jaiswal, Sheetal Chaudhari, Vishnudeo Yadav, Nikhil Bageshwar, Sandesh Sakhre, Hemant Amesar, Ranjan Sadavarte, Vikas Yadav and a large number of citizens from the areas.
