Nagpur: An Executive Engineer of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) was on Wednesday morning thrashed severely by a group of 5-6 youths. His Indica Vista car was also damaged by the assailants. The incident which took place near Chitnavis Centre in Civil Lines was the outcome of an old dispute.
The Executive Engineer has been identified as Satish Neral (54), resident of Hilltop, Ambazari.
According to details, on October 30 evening, Satish Neral along with his nephew Siddhesh Neral, was going to market for purchasing vegetables in an I10 car (MH-31/DC 9291). Midway, near a turning, another car, a Chevrolet, (MH-26/AF 6300), driven by Pushkar Jeevan Poshattiwar, collided with Neral’s car. As a result, a wordy duel erupted between the Nerals and Pushkar. In the meantime, Pushkar’s father Jeevan Poshattiwar reached the spot and “pleaded” Satish Neral to settle the matter amicably. However, Satish Neral spurned the “request” and lodged a complaint with Ambazari police in this regard.
The lodging of the complaint by the NMC Executive Engineer Satish Neral apparently did not go down well with Pushkar Poshattiwar (25), resident of Hilltop area. On Wednesday (November 2) morning, when Satish Neral was going to his office in Civil Lines, Pushkar and his 5-6 accomplices chased him in an Indica Vista car (MH-40/Y 6183) and intercepted him near Chitnavis Centre. Pushkar and his accomplices stopped Neral’s car, pulled him out and bashed him up severely. The rampaging group also smashed rear window of Neral’s car with stones. After the attack, the assailants fled the spot.
The bruised and battered NMC Engineer contacted Police Control Room and informed about the incident. The Control Room in turn alerted Sitabuldi police. Subsequently, a team of cops reached the spot and after performing panchnama and other investigation sent Satish Neral to government hospital for medical check-up. The medical report is awaited.
Based on the complaint of Satish Neral, Sitabuldi cops have booked the accused Pushkar Poshattiwar and his accomplices under sections of the IPC and searching for them.
