NMC Employees Coop Bank election on Sunday

The election for office-bearers of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Employees’ Co-operative Bank will be held on Sunday (May 3). Voting will take place from 8 am to 5 pm at Hanuman Nagar-based Ishwar Deshmukh Physical Education College polling centre. Counting of votes will be held on May 4.

Four panels are in the fray. The close fight is between ruling Lok Kranti Panel, Utkarsh Panel, Teachers-Employees Panel and Navshakti-Janashakti-Swabhiman-Castribe-Snehgroup Pane including an Independent.  The election is witnessing participation of ruling Corporators and some officials in campaigning.  The total number of voters stands at 5245 and the election will be held for 21 posts of Directors. 74 candidates are in the fray.

This bank of Nagpur Municipal Corporation is 80-year old. Deposit stands at Rs 165 crore while turnover is Rs 189 crore. But still three branches are in rented premises.  The Headquarters is situated in Mahal but likely to be demolished for road widening work. For securing loans, the share holders have to pay heavy interests but returned 8 percent interest on their CMTD. The ruling administration even though claimed of computerization but is not visible. Even an ATM is not opened yet. This time, it is being claimed that change of rule is certain.
