Nagpur: NMC’s Health Department has approved a purchase of 71 more artificial tanks for immersion of Ganesha idols for a cost of around rupees 33 lakh. The step is being taken to promote eco friendly Ganeshotsav to protect natural water bodies from getting polluted.
An amount of 50 lakh had already been granted by district planning committee for the purpose.
According to the official information, two tanks of 15×36 inch and 12×30 will be purchased. The tanks will be distributed in various zones as per requirement. The proposal was approved in a meeting of standing committee on Tuesday.
The Laxmi Nagar zone has sought 15 tanks, Hanuman Nagar 10, Gandhibagh 9, Nehru Nagar 1, Gandhibagh 3, Dharampeth 5, Satranjipura 8, Lakadganj 7, Ashi Nagar Nagar 5 and Mangalwari 8.
