Nagpur: NCP leader Jwala Dhote and family members of Nikita Chaudhary (23), whose half-charred body was found in Suraburdi earlier this month, claimed there was no transparency in the police investigations in the case and they had already concluded it was suicide.

Dhote accompanied by Nikita’s family members, told reporters police were denying them access
to documents such as post-mortem report, FIR, forensic report as well as panchanama.

“We made several requests to the police to give us these documents but in vain. We’ve given a letter to police through an advocate regarding this. Initially, I
was asked to come and collect the documents but within 10 minutes I got a call from police that they were busy and cannot pro vide documents,” said a
family member.

Dhote claimed soon after the body was found, commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar had already declared in the media it was likely a case of suicide.

“Without checking the forensic report, postmortem report, CP said it was suicide. The investigation is
focused on that, as no junior can cross the chief,” she said.

Dhote also said investigation has been shoddy as
there are several things police could have investigated deeper.

It is pertinent to mention that in the sensational incident in which charred body of Nikita Chaudhary was found in Surabardi in Wadi police jurisdiction, her boyfriend Rahul Manohar Bangre (24) has been arrested on the charges of abetting her suicide.

According to police, the accused Bangre, a resident of Tukdoji Nagar, tortured Nikita mentally and physically frequently. Fed up with the harassment, Nikita Chaudhary committed suicide. She reportedly poured petrol on her body and set her ablaze. She died of severe burn injuries, revealed the autopsy report.

The arrested accused Bangre has been booked under Section 306 of the IPC based on the complaint filed by API Achal Kapoor.

It is pertinent to mention that Nikita who was working with a private firm had gone missing from Tuesday, March 15 evening. Her parents had lodged a missing complaint with Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station. Next day her half charred body was found in the outskirts of the city.
