Nagpur: Activists of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by City President Vishal Khandekar and Vice President of party’s Youth Wing Salil Deshmukh, on Tuesday held demonstrations at Gittikhadan Toll Post on Katol Road and demanded Toll-Free Maharashtra. “The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, during Assembly poll campaign, had promised ‘Toll-Free Maharashtra’ but the promise has turned hollow,” said the NCP leaders.
The NCP leaders urged the Chief Minister, concerned minister and officials to initiate measures for scrapping toll tax in the State. “It is responsibility of Fadnavis and Gadkari to fulfill their poll promise. But, instead of making ‘Toll-Free Maharashtra’ both the BJP leaders are neglecting the issue and finding escape route in the name of financial, technical and judicial aspects. If they cannot fulfill their promise then they should apologize to the State people for doling out false promise. The BJP should also accept public that the promise of ‘Toll-Free Maharashtra’ was just poll gimmick to grab votes,” demanded Khandekar and Deshmukh.
Former minister Anil Deshmukh also participated in the demonstration and guided the activists. A large number party leaders, activists and common people took part in the demonstration.
