Nagpur Varsity grants 20% reservation to students from Gondwana varsity

Nagpur: Students from Gadchiroli based Gondwana University can rejoice as they can get an easy access to Nagpur’s Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, which has announced 20 per cent reservation for these students seeking admission in 28 departments. Those passing out in 2016-17 from Gondwana University will be eligible to get admission in post graduate programmes under various departments of Nagpur university. The move is aimed at ensuring higher education to the backward class students.

The admission process has been started from July 18. As there were limited courses at Gondwana University the students were not able to continue with their higher studies. The vice-chancellor at Gondwana University then requested the Governor in this regard who further directed the RTMNU’s Vice Chancellor Siddharthvinayak Kane to initiate steps in this regard.

Kane then passed an order to Central Admission Committee to made provision for 20 per cent reservation for the students of Gondwana University. The prospectus would be available till July 21 and the merit list would be displayed on July 24. Admission process is scheduled to begin from July 25. The last date of submitting documents pertaining to educational qualification will be July 27.
