Nagpur: The Escort Squad of the Nagpur Police Commissionerate has taken action against a tadipar (externed) accused and seized country-made and illicit liquor worth ₹18,370 from his residence in the Yashodhara Nagar Chowk area.
According to police, the accused had been temporarily externed from Nagpur city during Ganeshotsav and Navratri as a preventive law-and-order measure. Despite the externment order, he was allegedly found at his residence and involved in the illegal sale of liquor.

Police Raid at Yashodhara Nagar Residence
The incident came to light on Thursday night after the Escort Squad received information that Babulal Govindrao Hume was allegedly selling hand-brewed illicit liquor and country-made liquor from his house.
After verifying the information, the Escort Squad, along with personnel from Yashodhara Nagar Police Station, conducted a search of the accused’s residence in the presence of two panch witnesses.
During the search, police allegedly recovered hand-brewed illicit liquor worth around ₹12,000, along with 54 bottles of 90-ml country-made liquor valued at ₹2,160. Police also seized ₹4,210 in cash.
The total value of the seized property was ₹18,370.
Accused Was Under Externment Order
Police said Hume had previously been involved in cases related to liquor sales. In view of maintaining law and order during Ganeshotsav and Navratri, he had reportedly been temporarily externed from Nagpur city under Section 163(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Despite the order, the accused was allegedly found at his residence in the city and was caught during the police action.
Case Registered Under BNS and Prohibition Act
A case has been registered at Yashodhara Nagar Police Station under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 65(e) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil by Assistant Police Inspector Bhagwan Koli, head of the Escort Squad, along with his team.
