Nagpur: A brain-teasing quiz competition “KOMSAM – A General Quiz” was organised recently by Nagpur Quiz Club in the city. Wing Commander Samir Gangakhedkar came up with a marvellous General Quiz. The Quiz turned out to be as beautiful as its name.
The Quiz saw participation of 30 people despite the empty streets of Nagpur on a Sunday afternoon owing to Holi festival time. A set of 42 questions with two written rounds diverse in all fields of interest serving everyone’s taste buds just like the different colours of Holi formed the Quiz. Total of 40 questions on Infinite Rebound and two written rounds — one on Politics who’s who and the other one on blossoming flowers – were fired on participants.
All the questions were high on fundas and were well researched by the Quiz Master (QM). The best part was that the Questions were really workable and elaborative. Also each question had a story behind it which Wg Cdr Samir explained enthusiastically making the Quiz more relatable. A little bit of toughness also made the participants more engrossed in the Quiz and also lessened the number of pounces. Some interesting connect questions required the participants to refresh the missing links in their grey matters.
The prize distribution ceremony took place at the hands of Mrs. Nath and the final standings were as follows:
Winners : Team C- Vandana Chitnavis, Ashwin S, Devevrata Dharkar, Manoj Chopkar, Dhruv Aggarwal, Amol Krishnani, Aman Mishra – 140 Points.

Teams A, C and E were neck and neck till the last question which was the theme question. The theme was Blossoms. Team C made a remarkable score of 50 points proving victorious just as Aman called it – ‘acing’ the Quiz. At the end, all the Teams were really close in a neck and neck fight with only a difference of five or ten points. Special mention to the school kids – Spandan and Aadvik – for answering some brilliant questions for their Teams which nobody else in the room could get!
Starting from this Quiz, Nagpur Quiz Club has introduced a ‘Quiz Master Rating System’ where every participant gets to assign a number from 1 to 10 to QM’s proceedings in the entire Quiz. A secret ballot system with points and feedback was taken at the end of the Quiz.
Wg Cdr Samir’s experience in the Quizzing circuit was factor that made the session a bliss. All the participants as well as audience thoroughly enjoyed the Quiz.
