
Nagpur: As part of the ongoing “Operation Thunder,” an initiative conceptualized by Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal to create a drug-free society, the Ajni Police successfully conducted a raid on April 28, leading to the arrest of a drug peddler.
Acting on a credible tip-off received around 8:50 pm, the Ajni Police Investigation Team set up a blockade near the Thaware School at Chimni Chowk. The police intercepted a black moped (MH-49-AZ-6427). The rider, identified as Harshal Rakesh Bramhane (25), a resident of Trimurti Nagar, was taken into custody after a brief pursuit.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, officers discovered 18 grams and 200 milligrams of MD powder concealed in a white ziplock bag inside the moped’s storage compartment. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 1,93,800, which includes:
• 18.2g of MD Powder
• 6 Mobile phones
• The moped
• Empty ziplock bags for packaging
The accused was allegedly carrying the narcotics for illegal sale. A case has been registered at Ajni Police Station under Sections 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act. The operation was carried out under the guidance of top brass, including Acting CP Navinchandra Reddy and DCP Rashmita Rao, by a dedicated team led by Senior PI Nitinchandra Rajkumar.
