Nagpur: In a major anti-narcotics action under Operation Thunder, the NDPS Cell of Nagpur Police seized 79 kg of ganja (marijuana) worth nearly ₹21 lakh from Yashodhara Nagar area on Monday night. One accused has been arrested, while another managed to flee and is currently being traced.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid behind Umar Farooq Masjid in Shivshakti Nagar, Yashodhara Nagar. During the operation, police arrested Mohammad Anwar Mohammad Ismail Ansari, while his accomplice Ejaz Ansari, a resident of Garib Nawaz Nagar, escaped from the scene.
The police recovered 79 kg 100 g of ganja valued at ₹19.77 lakh, along with an Omni car, an Activa moped, and a mobile phone, bringing the total seizure value to approximately ₹21.17 lakh.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Yashodhara Nagar Police Station. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the absconding accused, and further investigation is underway.
