Nagpur Police return stolen booty worth Rs 20.89 lakh to owner

Nagpur: The City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP) Zone 1, Noorul Hasan in the presence of Bajaj Nagar Police handed over 395 gms of gold and Rs 35,000 cash, collectively worth Rs 20,89,000 to the rightful owner here on Tuesday.

Some burglars had reportedly sneaked inside complainant Yogesh Shriram Shende’s house in S E Railway Colony between August 3 and 4 back in 2019 and decamped with 455 gms of gold and cash Rs 35,000. Following the complaint of Shende (37), an offence under Sections 454, 457, 380 was registered at Bajaj Nagar Police Station.

Following the detailed probe, accused identified as Amol Mahadev Raut (32), a resident of Satgaon was apprehended. During the interrogation, Raut spill the beans and told about his accomplices Shrikant Jeevan Nikhade (29), a resident of Titur village in Kuhi tehsil and Prakash Motirao Panchbhai (45), a resident of Shegaonnagar, Bahadura Phata.

While Raut and Pachbhai were nabbed subsequently, Nikhade had managed to evade arrest for over a year before squad of Bajaj Nagar Police comprising Senior PI Shubhangi Deshmukh, PSI Parag Fuljele, Constables Ramdas Varahokar, Govinda Barapatre nabbed him this year. Following which cops had managed to recover 395 gms of gold and Rs 35,000 cash.

The Top Cop along with DCP Zone and squad of Bajaj Nagar Police then returned the booty to Shende at Police Commissioner Office.
