In an inspiring story emerging from Nagpur, 21 students from the Mahakali Nagar slum area have turned hardship into achievement by securing remarkable success in the Maharashtra SSC and HSC board examinations.

The students, many of whom come from economically struggling families, were honoured in a special felicitation ceremony organized by Nagpur Police through the Beltarodi Police Station as part of an initiative aimed at encouraging education and positive social change in underprivileged communities.

Mahakali Nagar, known for its narrow lanes and difficult living conditions, is home to families dependent on daily wage labour, domestic work, and small-scale jobs for survival.

Nagpur Police Honour 21 Meritorious Students

The felicitation event was held in Mahakali Nagar under the guidance of Ravinder Singal and Rashmita Rao.

During the ceremony, the 21 meritorious students received certificates and mementos from the Police Commissioner in the presence of police officials, parents, social workers, and local residents.

Around 400 parents and citizens attended the event, turning it into a proud community celebration.

Police Initiative Focuses on Education and Crime Prevention

Officials said the primary objective of the initiative was to motivate students from slum areas to pursue education and stay away from criminal activities and negative influences.

The program also aimed to strengthen trust between local communities and the police administration.

Social activist Ashok Bagul praised the effort by the police department and said recognition at this stage would significantly boost the confidence of children living in slum communities.
