Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. Akshay Dilip Barai, a resident of Gaddigodam, was apprehended by Sadar Police on July 16.
According to sources, Barai had been in a relationship with a Kalamna-based woman and had promised to marry her. However, when she pressed him to fulfill his promise, he began evading her. The victim filed a complaint at Kalamna Police Station, which was later transferred to Sadar Police for investigation.

Barai was produced in court and remanded to police custody until July 17. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
