Nagpur: The Bajaj Nagar police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an individual responsible for creating and circulating a controversial video of a nude couple that recently went viral on social media.
According to the police, the video, captured by two youths on a two-wheeler, depicted a couple in a compromising state on the road. The footage also showed a car parked nearby, with claims that the couple had disembarked from this vehicle. However, investigations revealed that the car and its owner, Ankit Vijay Pandey (30), a resident of Dwarkapuri, were entirely unrelated to the incident.
Pandey lodged a complaint with the police on Monday, stating that the video misrepresented his vehicle’s involvement and caused defamation. He emphasized that he had no connection to the couple and criticized the social media handle for posting the video on Instagram.
Police investigations uncovered that the couple, residing in a nearby hut, were involved in an altercation; the woman was mentally ill, and the man was intoxicated. Following the incident, they ventured outside, leading to their appearance in the video. The police have registered a case under the IT Act and provisions of the BNS.
