According to information, woman constable Malti Atmaram Pal (56) from the Ajni Traffic Department was on duty with a colleague managing traffic and conducting checks at Shatabdi Square. During the operation, a two-wheeler rider identified as Injamamul Kalim Khan (33), a resident of Sundarnagar, Kharbi, was stopped for allegedly violating traffic rules and was being issued a challan.
As the action began, the accused reportedly lost his temper and started arguing aggressively with the police personnel. Eyewitnesses said he abused the officers and allegedly issued threats during the confrontation.
The situation escalated further when the accused allegedly picked up a nearby sack and hurled it directly at the woman constable, hitting her on the head.
The sudden attack caused panic and commotion at the square, with local citizens stepping in to calm the situation and assist the police personnel. The accused is also alleged to have misbehaved with the constable’s colleague during the incident.
After receiving information about the attack, Ajni Police reached the spot and registered a case against the accused for assault, threatening behaviour, and obstructing a government servant from discharging official duty. Further investigation is underway.
