Nagpur News: Samruddhi Highway Jam, Maoist Surrender, Gold Rate & Horoscope

  • On the Samruddhi Mahamarg (also called Samruddhi Highway) near Nagpur/Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, thousands of Diwali-bound travellers were trapped in massive traffic jams stretching kilometres; to add fuel (literally) to the problem, several petrol pumps ran dry due to the rush.
  • A seaplane project in the Nagpur region has gained traction — if it goes ahead, it could significantly boost regional connectivity.
  • Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) via its Fire Department issued a Diwali safety advisory, in view of rising fire incidents and the high risk during festival lighting, crackers etc.
  • In Gadchiroli district, 61 Maoists surrendered, including a key figure named Sonu Bhupathi — authorities say this is linked to pressure built up since 2018 arrests of urban Maoist leaders.

 Local Crime & Safety

  • Under “Operation Thunder”, police raided gambling dens in the Shantinagar area of Nagpur: 18 people arrested, cash of over ₹7.5 lakh seized.
  • A car crash on the Samruddhi Highway claimed the lives of two Myanmar nationals, including a child, while travelling from Mumbai to Nagpur — raising serious questions about highway safety enforcement.
  • In Jaripatka, enforcement teams seized banned tobacco and pan masala products worth around ₹1.25 lakh.
  • A man in Nagpur was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping his minor step-daughter — harsh but necessary given the crime.

Other News

  • Diwali rush hit Nagpur’s markets (Mahal, Itwari, etc) hard: record crowds, traffic gridlock, long waits — the festive season is here and it’s chaotic.
  • In sport: Vidarbha cricket team began their defence of the Ranji Trophy with a decisive win against Nagaland — a solid start.
  • Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister, was spotted doing Diwali shopping with his grandchildren in Nagpur — while simultaneously pushing for local development projects.

Gold Rate (Nagpur)

  • Local reports say on Dhanteras/Oct 18, gold fell a bit: 24-carat around ₹1.28 lakh per 10 g.
  • For Oct 19 specifically, I couldn’t find a precise per‐gram rate exclusive to Nagpur on open sources — the last reliable data show around ₹1.28 lakh/10 g for 24 K earlier this week.
  • If you’re buying: expect those local rates plus making-charges, GST, etc.

Horoscope & Numerology Snapshot

  • Today coincides with Chhoti Diwali / Kali Chaudas (Oct 19) in many parts, which astrologically is seen as favourable for “cleansing negative energy” and fresh starts.
  • Daily horoscope for Virgo (as example): you may feel stressed, finances might feel tight, avoid major decisions without planning.
  • Numerology: For number-charts, “Ank” (number) 2 and 7 are having strong money-gain signals; numbers 4, 6, 8 might need caution.
