Nagpur: Tension gripped the Ganesh Peth area after a suspicious bag containing gelatin sticks and 58 detonators was discovered near Dosar Bhavan. Given the seriousness of the situation, Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal rushed to the spot and is personally monitoring developments.
According to initial information, the bag was found in the courtyard of Ujjwal Lanjewar, reportedly a former director of G.S. College. Following the discovery of the explosive materials, Ganesh Peth Police immediately sealed off the area as a precautionary measure.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was deployed and began examining the materials. A strong police presence has been established in and around the area, with authorities urging residents to maintain a safe distance and avoid panic.
Preliminary investigations are underway to determine whether the materials were intended for legitimate use, such as construction or industrial purposes, or if there is a larger sabotage angle involved. With CP Singal present at the scene, the investigation is being fast-tracked, and more official details are expected soon.
Meanwhile, Nagpur Today spoke to a senior police officer, who clarified that no bomb has been found at the location, and urged citizens not to spread or believe unverified rumours.
The incident caused brief anxiety in the locality, but police have appealed to the public to remain calm, stay alert, and rely only on official updates.
