Nagpur mourns loss of Missile Man

Kalam-1Nagpur: It came as a big blow to the people of Nagpur as the news of nation’s one of the most precious gems, the Missile Man of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s demise poured in. A pall of gloom prevailed over city’s various fraternities and citizens who expressed their grief following the major loss dealt to the country.

Nagpur Today gauges the emotions in the city.

Sudhir Mungantiwar, State’s Finance Minister : Dr Kalam’s contribution in nation’s development cannot be forgotten. India conducted successful nuclear tests under his able leadership. He was not only a great scientist but a humble human being. This Missile Man lent inspiring thoughts to the nation’s youth and his contribution took the nation to lead from the forefront. He will always be remembered as the great man.

Praveen Datke, Mayor : The real patriot who led the nation to carve its distinct identity is no more. Such an indigenous personality is born only once. He had always loved his work and even breathed his last while on his work. Entire Nagpur pays its last respect to him.

Abdul-Kalam-2All India Chairman of CAIT B C Bhartiya : A great philosopher, thinker and guide who  gave the slogan of providing urban amenities to rural India. A person who wanted to  develop smart children for better future of the country. It is a great loss to our nation. May his soul rest in peace.

Tejinder Singh Renu, Secretary – Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA): Among all the politicians and leaders, very few earned the love and respect of every citizen, the way he got. The loss is not only for the country but for the entire humanity. May his noble soul rest in peace.

Vishal Muttemwar, young politician: He was an inspiration to millions of young Indians. His thoughts will continue to be a guiding light to the generations to come. He led a life of simplicity and was an extremely humble person and till his last breath, he continued to engage and contribute positively for the development of the nation and youth welfare.

Vilas Muttemwar, former MP A great scientist, who had dreamt of making India a superpower, not only did he dream of making the country a super power, but also brought about a missile revolution. He proved himself of many counts to be a true Bharat Ratna. Inspite of being such a great personality, he chose simple living and high thinking as his motto. I am very fortunate to have seen him from close quarters and for working with him. It is a great loss to the country. He was the role model for the young. We have lost a great son of the country. My heartfelt condolences.

Anees Ahmed, former minister: The void he left can never be filled. Besides being a great scientist, his simplicity has won the hearts of children. He had always emphasized upon educating kids. I consider myself lucky to have met him.

Anjali Gode with APJ abdul kalam  (2) MLA Krishna Khopde : Dr Kalam was the guiding force of entire nation. His works and contribution will remain a valuable asset of the country. He played key role in nation building. My humble regards to him.

 Jayesh Sharma, a class 10th student remembers meeting Kalam when he was studying in 7th class. “We had only heard of ‘Chacha Nehru’ and how he loved children but what I had seen is only ‘Chacha Kalam’. He was such a wonderful person. He has been the common topic of discussion among all our friends. We all are really sad about the fact he is now no more between us.”

Rakesh Chauhan, a medical professional says, “Whatever Mr. Kalam has bestowed upon the country has enough potential to lead the nation through digital age with an inspiration for innovation. He has been the guiding light of the nation’s future and will always be. We will always miss you sir.”
