
Nagpur: In a shocking incident reported from the MIDC Police Station limits on Sunday evening, a 40-year-old woman was brutally murdered by a youth allegedly driven by an old personal grudge. The accused had reportedly planned to kill two people, but alert citizens intervened and prevented a second murder.
The deceased has been identified as Anita Vinod Narad, who was returning home on foot after work along with her friends Manisha Fulzhele and Priyanka Sandre. According to police sources, the accused, Shubham Sawad, had been chasing the trio before stopping them near a private company premises.
At knifepoint, the accused forced Anita’s friends to step aside and launched a sudden and brutal attack on her, stabbing her repeatedly. Anita collapsed on the spot in a pool of blood, causing panic in the area.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused and the victim were previously employed together on a school bus, where Shubham worked as a driver and Anita as a conductor. After leaving the job, both moved on to different occupations. However, Shubham allegedly harboured suspicion over Anita’s relationship with another man, which is believed to have triggered the murder.
Sources further revealed that Shubham had also plotted to kill Anita’s alleged friend. After attacking her, he reportedly went searching for the second target and even reached the private hospital where the injured Anita had been rushed.
However, in a dramatic turn of events, alert citizens at the hospital recognized the accused and thrashed him before handing him over to the police. Their timely action thwarted the second planned murder.
Police have taken the accused into custody and launched a detailed investigation into the case. The gruesome incident has spread fear across the locality, while the bravery and alertness of citizens are being widely appreciated.
