Nagpur: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Nagpur Crime Branch has arrested two notorious accused with 151 grams of MD (Mephedrone) drugs during a raid in the Bhandewadi police station limits. Police seized contraband and other valuables worth approximately ₹44 lakh. During interrogation, the name of an absconding drug supplier, Vishal alias Phalli Gupta, also surfaced, and a search has been launched to trace him.

According to police, acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch Unit-3 conducted a raid near Vista Tattoo Studio in Vaishnavi Devi Nagar. The operation was carried out in the presence of independent witnesses while following all mandatory provisions of the NDPS Act.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammed Niyaz Shamsul Ansari and Mohammed Aslam Shamsul Ansari. Police recovered 151 grams of MD drugs, two mobile phones, an electronic weighing machine, cash, a Honda City car, and a moped from their possession. The total value of the seized property is estimated at around ₹44 lakh.

During questioning, the accused allegedly revealed the name of the main supplier, Vishal alias Phalli Gupta, who is currently absconding. Police teams have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

Investigators said both arrested men have criminal backgrounds. One of them has a previous case registered under the NDPS Act, while the other is facing a murder case. The absconding accused, Vishal alias Phalli Gupta, is also wanted in multiple serious offences, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, dacoity, and Arms Act violations.

The seized contraband and the accused have been handed over to Bhandewadi Police for further investigation. Police are now probing the wider drug supply network and attempting to identify other individuals linked to the racket.
