Nagpur LS seat: Gadkari declares assets worth Rs 28 crore in poll affidavit

Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has disclosed his movable and immovable assets valued at Rs 28 crore in an affidavit filed alongside his nomination papers for the Nagpur Lok Sabha seat. This declaration marks a notable increase from his previous affidavit in 2019, where his assets totalled Rs 25 crore which indicated an increase of Rs 3 crore over the past five years.

Gadkari officially submitted his nomination papers for the Nagpur Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday for the forthcoming elections scheduled for April 19. In his IT returns, Gadkari reported a total income of Rs 13,84,550 for the fiscal year 2022-2023. Meanwhile, his wife recorded an income of Rs 40,62,140, and the Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) reported an income of Rs 8,23,530 for the same period.

According to the details provided in his affidavit, Gadkari’s movable assets amount to Rs 1,32,90,605, whereas his wife possesses movable assets valued at Rs 1,24,86,441. Additionally, the HUF holds movable assets worth Rs 95,46,275. On the immovable assets front, he declared properties worth Rs 4,95,00,000, while his wife’s immovable assets stand at Rs 7,99,83,000. The HUF possesses immovable assets amounting to Rs 11,55,11,000.

Nitin Gadkari has a loan of Rs 1,66,82,750 while a loan of Rs 38,08,390 is in his wife’s name and a loan of Rs 4,17,39,034 is in the name of HUF. His declared assets include 15.74 acres of agricultural land in Dhapewada, Nagpur, with the majority ownership under his wife’s name. The current market value of the agricultural land is Rs 1,79,00,000. Furthermore, the family possesses an ancestral house in Mahal, valued at Rs 5,14,10,000, and a flat in Worli, Mumbai worth Rs 4,95,00,000.

Apart from real estate, Gadkari has investments totalling Rs 3,55,510 in various savings schemes, mutual funds, bonds, and shares. Additionally, he maintains a bank balance of Rs 49,06,586, while his wife’s amounts to Rs 16,03,714. The affidavit also reveals the ownership of six cars, with three vehicles registered under Gadkari’s name and the remaining three under his wife’s ownership.

As per details, he completed HSSC from Dadasaheb Dhanwate Nagar Vidyalaya, Mahal, in 1973; Bachelor of Commerce from G S Commerce College Nagpur in 1977 and Bachelor of Legislative Law in 1982 from University College of Law, Nagpur. A total of 10 criminal cases are pending against him.

Thakre’s assets

Congress candidate for the Nagpur Lok Sabha seat, Vikas Thakre, has shared details of his assets in the poll affidavit. According to the affidavit submitted, Thakre’s movable assets amount to Rs 1,29,65,185. Additionally, his wife, Vrunda Thakre, possesses movable assets worth Rs 1,42,09,629.

In terms of immovable assets, Vikas Thakre has declared assets worth Rs 69,10,000 in his name, while his wife holds assets valued at Rs 6,66,71,667. Thakre has disclosed loans amounting to Rs 1,51,41,813 in his name and Rs 1,41,16,256 in his wife’s name. Furthermore, he owns 2.79 acres of agricultural land in his wife’s name in Mouza Wanadongri, Hingna tehsil, acquired in 2001 for Rs 50,000, now valued at Rs 1,02,00,000. Additionally, his wife owns a 0 .337-hectare share of agricultural land at Wanadongri.

Thakre also has a 1 /2 share of non-agricultural land measuring 5,000 sq ft in Mouza Nildoh. He and his wife both own plots in Mouza Parsodi and one in Mouza Dabha.

Thakre completed his higher Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Dharampeth Arts and Commerce in 1984 and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dharampeth Arts and Commerce College in 1989. Currently, four criminal cases are pending against him.
