Nagpur lass Shital Upare wins Miss Progress India title; to vie for international title in Italy

Shital Upare, a young beauty from Nagpur has made it to the crown of Miss Progress India 2014 pageant – an Indian franchisee of the global beauty pageant Miss Progress International headquartered in Italy. Born and brought up in Nagpur, Shital secured the top position in the pageant held in Chandigarh on Sunday. While she bagged the final title, Ruchika Sambhi and Renu Pruthi were the first and second runner up, respectively. The event was held by Big Break, an audition, casting and event management company based in Mumbai. After winning Miss Progress India, Shital will now represent India in Miss Progress International to be held in Puglia, Italy on May 17.

Hailing from a family of doctors, Shital graduated in psychology from Hislop college here and then pursued a UK Diploma along with undertaking air hostess training from Frankfinn Institute here. Shital presently works for Singapore airlines and flown all the way to Chandigarh to participate in this event as she came to know that the title winner would be representing India at the main event in Italy.

Talking to Nagpur Today, Shital said, “I was thrilled with the idea of representing the country at the beauty pageant of an international repute. Being in the Singapore airlines, I can say that I am the only girl from Nagpur who is working with this airliner.”

Sharing her Bollywood aspirations with Nagpur Today, Shital said she was also looking forward to some Bollywood projects also.

shital-upare-1Among her major achievements besides winning this title, Shital has proudly appeared on the cover page of Bollywood fashion magazine – Model Craft – in its April issue. The magazine has carried Salman Khan and Ejaz Khan (Big Boss fame) on its cover page in the earlier editions.

She informed that there were 11 contestants from all over the states in India and she turned out to be the ultimate choice of the jury members.

Stating her take on the challenges in life, Shitale said, “Where there is will, there Is way…chase, love, follow your dream because it comes true”

Big Break, the organizer of Miss Progress India 2014, is the national director of this Indian franchise. The company director Seema Batish Sharma told Nagpur Today that the event is being brought up in international format. The final was held at sector-32 auditorium in Chandigarh on Sunday evening. She informed that Shital will leave for Italy on May 8 and return on May 18 after the event is over.
