Nagpur: Resident doctors at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) launched an indefinite strike on Wednesday after talks with the Maharashtra Government failed to resolve their long-pending demands.
The strike was called by the Central Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), with protesting doctors staging a sit-in outside the hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) from the morning.

The resident doctors said they had no option but to resort to agitation as the government had failed to take any concrete decision on their legitimate demands despite prolonged discussions.
The doctors have issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the government, warning that if no positive decision is taken within the stipulated period, the agitation will be intensified. They also cautioned that essential medical services could be suspended, holding the government solely responsible for any disruption.
The strike has already begun affecting OPD services, leaving patients facing inconvenience and longer waiting times.
The protesting doctors appealed to the government to immediately address their demands to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services and prevent hardship to patients.
